Facial features are beginning to form, including dark spots where the eyes will be and small openings for nostrils. The jaw, cheeks, and chin are developing. The heart is now beating at about 100-160 beats per minute and may be visible on a transvaginal ultrasound. Small buds for arms and legs are growing, and the embryo has a curved, tadpole-like shape.
