How to Calculate Your Due Date
Your estimated due date (EDD) is calculated based on the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). The most common method, known as Naegele's rule, adds 280 days (40 weeks) to your LMP date. This assumes a regular 28-day menstrual cycle with ovulation occurring on day 14.
Three Ways to Calculate
By Last Period
The most common method. Enter the first day of your last menstrual period and we add 280 days.
By Conception Date
If you know when you conceived, we add 266 days from that date for your due date.
By Ultrasound
Enter your ultrasound date and gestational age for the most accurate calculation.
Pregnancy Care in South Africa
South Africa offers both public and private antenatal care. In the public sector, you can register at your nearest clinic for free antenatal services. Private care through a gynaecologist or obstetrician is covered by most medical aids as a Prescribed Minimum Benefit (PMB) condition.
Key tests during pregnancy in South Africa include HIV testing (offered routinely at the first visit), syphilis screening, blood group testing, and glucose tolerance testing around 26-28 weeks. Your healthcare provider will guide you through the recommended schedule of visits and scans.
