Third Trimester

Week 31: Your Baby is the Size of a Coconut

Pelvic floor stress may cause minor urine leakage when you laugh, cough, or sneeze. Your ribs may ache from the baby's kicking and stretching. Sleep is fragmented, and you may need to visit the bathroom several times a night.

Baby Development

The baby's five senses are all functioning now. The brain is processing information from all senses simultaneously. The baby can track light, respond to sounds, taste the amniotic fluid, and feel touch. The lungs and digestive system are nearly mature. The irises can now dilate and constrict in response to light.

Week 31 Highlight: All five of your baby's senses are now functional - they can see, hear, taste, smell, and feel!
